It has been very encouraging to me to see other women, Black women returning to their roots. Whether because its the latest "trend" or because they are mixing things up or because they are trying something new...It's happening, they are doing it and that makes. me.proud.
People try to minimize the Natural Hair Movement(NHM) by calling it a "trend", but here is what I think...for many years it was wrong to look or be different from the majority therefore we have perms and plastic surgery which transforms us into something that we would like to look or be like. But that's not the way God made us...
But now, we are breaking away from the streamlined view of what beauty is or should look like and we are going back to our natural state...the way that God made us... It is my belief that people see it, they like it and they want to try it- hence the movement...and that's ok with me...
It takes hard work, courage and strength to stand tall and boldly in a world of people who view beauty onesided and say "My name is Tomika Robertson and I am Au'Naturale"!
