A new product...(to me!)

Ok, ok.. I know what you are saying. The last thing that any of us in the Natural Hair Community need is a new product. Well, think its worth it!

In the beginning yes I will admit it, (The first step to overcoming a problem is to recognize there is a problem...help me!)I was a PJ...:-( Yes, a product junkie...but I am NOT like that anymore. Basically I tried out a few different items because someone said it dis good for their natural or transitioning hair (hundreds!) But I found what works for my hair and that's what I stick too, usually.. but now that it is doing well I was feeling adventurous same dyed my hair...check out the picture below.

But in the boxed dye that I applied was a gift. The conditioner that they gave. O!M!G!! It has my take feeling wonderful!

Summer hair routine...

Wash day is always a day with a full work load. Right now, here is what I do from start to finish...<br />
A. Dry Detangle<br />
I start with detangling my hair dry by 1. separating my hair into 4 or 6 sections. This depends on how tangled it truly is. <br />
2. Being as gentle as possible comb through each section, if the sections are too big separate them again.<br />
3. Once it is detangled (meaning your comb or denman style brush goes through it without any kinks or knots.)&#160; Put some conditioner on it from scalp to ends...fully saturate with conditioner.(use the cheap condish for extra slip and maximum moisture.)<br />
4. Twist to keep the section together and out of the way and repeat.<br />
5. When all sections are complete, place a plastic cap on and prepare for your shower. <br />
Explanation: Because I've tried detangling while wet and was practically ripping my hair out at the root I've learned that my hair is stronger and healthier as well as easier to handle dry. Try it! Also I wash my hair in the shower. <br />
B. Washing &amp; re-conditioning<br />
After 10 minutes of your plastic baggy, wash half of your hair left side then right side with shampoo. Be gentle but not too gentle. Rinse thoroughly and apply thicker condish (I.e.protein condish, strengthening condish rec.) Move on with shower routine...<br />
Before leaving the shower rinse condish out and wrap in a towel. <br />
C. Stretching<br />
(Please note if stretching is not what you want to do skip this section and move to the next entitled Styling.)<br />
Stretching is for curly girlies who suffer from shrinkage. The options to stretch your hair are:<br />
1. Roller set 2. Blow out 3. Or you could stretch after styling.<br />
1. I loooove the roller set. After washing and conditioning, apply your fav leave-in conditioner if you will be sitting under the dryer, apply a heat protectant or you may choose to air dry...roll you hair (it doesn't have to be neat) and let dry. Then unroll and style as you please. <br />
Explanation: I usually do dry twist or braids.<br />

2. Blowing out has its own set of results. After washing and conditioning apply a heat protectant along with your fav leave-in condish. Blow dry with the hand held blow dryer concentrating on the roots but NOT the ends. Explanation: you will be blow drying you natural hair which can withstand that direct heat from the blow dryer. This will leave roots smooth for styling. Styling options here are versatile. You could do braids or twist by applying more leave-in condish making the ends of you hair NOT the roots damp. You could also do a rod set, or bantu knots. <br />
3. Lastly after washing and conditioning, you could style as usual and once its dry you could stretch it using a satin scrunchy.<br />

All great questions that my viewers are asking so here are the answers..
The Background:
For new viewers thank you for your support and here is some background for you. For my loyal viewers, I will bring you up to speed as well.
My natural hair journey began with thoughts of getting deadlocks. I began to transition my hair and I am currently 14 months post relaxer..."whoooo-hooo". However in my decision to transition I began stalking the online natural hair community so for the 14 months I've been trying hairstyles, regimes and teetering back and forth on the verge of locking or not.

But while transitioning I would condition and deep condition but my relaxed ends tangle uncontrollably. Which is truly frustrating. So I decided to MC! I cut approximately 4 inches off. It feels great to have those useless inches off of my shoulders and my curl pattern is more defined because some of that weight is gone...and I couldn't be happier...the results are so great that I thought about BC...but I didn't! I'm not THAT brave! So now my hair is just below shoulder length and its a great length for the summer.

Look what I did...

I mini chopped!
It's summer, it's hot, its sticky and I was super frustrated. I am a swimmer, I love the water but everyday...my hair does NOT! Especially my permed ends. So, I cut them and it felt sooooo good. Now my ends are not so tangled, my curl print is more defined and I feel closer to my goal of being all natural, 4 inches closer...yeah me!

Surya Henna Brazil Cream *Product Review*

So there has been a lot of talk about Henna. The benefits it offers to natural hair, the fact that it is a conditioner, a hair dye and a healthy hair growing agent. Well this made me curious, even more so because of my natural-ness I haven't used hair dye in almost 8 months...I will admit that in the beginning of my Natural journey (10 months today) I couldn't give up my dye... I saw those gray hairs springing up and I decided that I would not perm/relax my hair but I certainly was not ready to have a hair full of grays... Well it left my hair soooo brittle that I haven't done it since.

That brings me to Henna. I have heard stories of how to mix it (with conditioner, cold water), how to wash it out (sink your head in a tub full of cold water) and all these other regiments. So I found this quaint little herbal store in Annapolis, Md called Sun and Earth (I will do a review on them at a later date) where they had Henna, for hair and it came in a mixable for and a cream form...well I like things easy, it was highly recommended by the store keeper and I decided to try it.

I am currently waiting to was it out so I will chat now about the application...
The directions are simple, and easy to read and understand. I was conserned about the smell and the size of the bottle because my transitioning hair consist of long, thick, afro like hair...but as soon as I began the application, I was so thankful that I didn't waste my money. I shook the bottle and heard liquid so I punched a hole in the top and proceeded. Then it wouldn't come out. So I opened the top to find that the dye is a thick cream with herbs in it. So I didn't have to worry about it dripping, or spilling because it was pretty thick. It is time for me to rinse out so expect a part two and three this week.

The Next Phase Of My Life

Just thinking...
There is a opportunity before me that could be the next phase of my life. But there are many questions that ly before me and this opportunity. Then theres fear...fear of the unknown, of failure or success and fear of the process...and thats real! So where do I go from here? Research, thinking, research and more thinking and then we will see what happens from there.
